Advanced Workflow Automation Using Dropdown Logic
Selecting a dropdown item now builds the correct subitems instantly from other boards. Manual copying is removed, project setup is faster, and every job follows the same structure. Errors are reduced and John’s team saves significant admin time on every project.
Project Overview
This company manage projects from a summary board in monday.com. When a dropdown item is selected, the team previously had to search other boards, copy the matching items, and recreate them underneath the main item. This was slow, repetitive and often led to missed tasks or inconsistent setups. We built a Make.com automation triggered by a dropdown item change on the summary board. When a specific dropdown item is selected, the system searches other boards for items with the same name, then automatically creates those items underneath the selected item as subitems. Simple checks prevent duplicates and keep naming consistent. Now selecting one dropdown item instantly builds the correct structure under the main item, saving time, reducing errors and ensuring every project follows the same layout.
